Mukhpa La, You Beauty!!

๐Ÿž️ Setting Off: Tezpur to Arunachal

Our journey began at Tezpur, Assam, with the morning sun painting the Brahmaputra banks in golden hues. We took winding roads through Assam’s tea estates before crossing the Siang River, entering Arunachal’s dense forests and misty valleys. The air grew cooler, charged with anticipation.

Day 1: Homestays & Hanging Bridges

Arriving in Mechuka, our homestay greeted us with warm butter tea and friendly locals. We explored the iconic bamboo-hanging bridges across Yargyapchu—an exhilarating introduction to remote frontier life . The evening was spent swapping stories by a bonfire, laughter echoing under starlit skies.

Day 2: Trek to Mukhpa La

The trek to Mukhpa La began at dawn. The trail climbed steadily from pine forests into alpine meadows with horses grazing freely, akin to scenes from Shangri‑La . We tackled steep ridges and milky ridgelines, stopping often to imbibe panoramic views of rugged hills and distant mountain ranges.

Summit Day: Reaching Mukhpa La

The final ascent was challenging deserving of its altitude and raw beauty. As we crested Mukhpa La, a breathtaking landscape unfolded—emerald valleys, scattered villages, and silvery streams. It felt like conquering a hidden world few have seen. We cheered, captured memories, and sat in reflective silence at the summit.

Descent & Cultural Immersion

Our descent wove through a mix of rhododendron forests and bamboo groves, crossing lively streams and narrow log bridges . We visited traditional Monpa villages—meeting elders, sharing home‑grown corn brew and tasting local delicacies under warm hospitality.

Highlights & Takeaways
